ABOUT

Fenn Woodwork is a small Nottingham-based workshop, set up and run by myself, Matt Jamieson.

WHAT I SUPPLY

I design, build and install kitchen cabinetry and worktops, fitted furniture and tailored storage. I also welcome requests for any other bespoke joinery needs you may have.

Projects will usually begin with a site visit to determine your requirements and take measurements. Using 3D modelling software, this information is translated into a visual of the project. From here refinements can be made to the design before committing to the fabrication phase.

I work in a variety of materials including hardwoods, veneered sheets and birch plywood, alongside formica laminated panels; to assist in choosing, samples with finishes can be supplied.

Production will begin in the workshop, where most of the work will be completed, keeping onsite installation to a minimum and reducing the disruption to the home.

BACKGROUND

Since completing a BA (hons) in Fine Art in 2004, I have gained over fourteen years’ experience as an art handler and technician, working freelance for many of the UK’s arts venues, and employed as Head Technician at The Hepworth Wakefield (2011-15)

During these years I honed my skills as a woodworker to fabricate everything from display cases and exhibition furniture to large-scale sculptural installations and cinema rooms.

I have been fortunate to work on many unique and often challenging projects with most geared towards creating enjoyable, user-friendly experiences for the public.  This breadth of knowledge and experience has enabled me to develop a skill for intuitive and creative problem-solving, which I believe brings a sensitivity to, and appreciation of, clients' personal environments.
